PRESQUE ISLE STATE PARK VOLUNTEER STAFF

In July 2009 Jasper and David were appointed as Roving Ambassadors at Presque Isle State Park.
Jasper is the first Canine Roving Ambassador!
This year (2010) we are working in the Ranger Station helping visitors with questions they may have about Presque Isle and the Erie Area.

VOLUNTEER POSITION
Volunteer Position Title: Roving Ambassador
Site: Presque Isle (park-wide)
Position Description:
- Man the Ranger station or
- Ride bike, walk, or kayak throughout park
- Provide information to visitors, such as maps, natural history info, and information on programs.
- Answer questions related to Presque Isle and the Erie Area.
- Conduct visitor surveys when needed
Time Requirements:
- Volunteers are needed at any time, but weekends are preferable.
- Volunteers should be able to commit to one shift per week.
- Shift times are flexible.
- Volunteers are needed year round
Skills/Training:
- Ability to walk, bike or kayak for distances with a pack of information
- Ability to interact with general public in a friendly and courteous manner
- Knowledge of TREC, Presque Isle, and general Erie area
- Attendance at volunteer trainings
- Understanding of DCNR and its mission
Uniform:
- Uniform shirts with Badges should be worn during your work shift.
- Shirt and pants/shorts should be of neutral colors (white, tan, black)
- Professional, appropriate outdoor, casual dress
- Space will be available to store personal items while working
Evaluation:
- Your performance will be reviewed once annually.
- Review is designed to assist you in performing your duties and to insure standards are being met.
- You may request additional reviews and input during the year as you feel necessary
